Quilting Events
- Keepsake Quilting is sponsoring the "Fiction Comes to Life" Quilting Challenge (pdf) in correlation with the release of "The Threadbare Heart" by Jennie Nash. From her email, "The contest, called "Fiction Comes to Life," challenges people to make the quilt my character was never able to make, using a medley from Keepsake Quilting and meaningful fabric from their own stash. The Grand Prize winner receives a $150 Keepsake gift certificate; 10 signed copies of The Threadbare Heart; a phone-in visit from the author so you can have all your friends over to talk about reading, quilting and life; and, for original designs, the chance to have your quilt made into a Keepsake Quilting Quilt Kit, which would be sold nationwide. Your members are also invited to join the conversation about the stories fabric tells at The Story of My Stash blog. This week, I’m asking fabric lovers to send in stories about their very first memory of sewing." Must be received by July 1st, 2010.
- The Mason Chapter of the American Legion would like to give quilts to the 119 Field Artillery as they leave for Afghanistan in July. They have asked our small group of quilters from the Mason 1st United Methodist Church to help make these quilts approximately. The quilts are 40x70 and red, white, and blue or any other military type material.
Our group is looking for any kind of help - you can make the quilt yourself or join our group on Wednesdays at 10:00am at the Church on Ash St. Mason. Bring a sack lunch. Most leave around 3 or 4pm or you can sign up for supper and join our group in the evening. We have set up an assembly line to get these made. Any help would be much appreciated. For more information contact Claudia Ireland (she is in charge of this group) 517-676-5531
