Activities
There are numerous activities that happen with standard reoccurrence within the guild. Below, you'll find explanations of many of the activities.
President's Block
President's blocks are created by guild members and given to the outgoing president each year at the April meeting. This a way of saying "Thank for a job well done." The President's colors are announced in the newsletter and patterns for the traditional Ohio Star at the Vice President's Table. The organization of this project is handled by the Past President.
For the past president, Dan, please use bright batiks with it being 9.5" unfinished (9" finished). (Instructions to make the President block.)
Challenge Quilt
Challenge quilt rules are announced by the Assistant Program Chair at least six months before the March deadline. Completed (quilted) quilts are voted on by members at the March meeting.
Heartwarmers project
Quilts made by Guild members for chronically and critically ill children in local hospitals, quilts are collected at the March and September meetings but are accepted at anytime. Be sure to attach a CCQG label to your heartwarmers quilt, which are available at the library table.
CCQG Quilting Retreat
The next CCQG Retreat will be in Februrary. Please see Linda Wells for details.
The CCQG First Annual Retreat (pdf) was held on January 29-31, 2010. It was a resounding success! Approximately 50 hours, 50 quilters, great food, wonderful accomodations! What more could anyone ask for. Check out the pictures! Lots of items started and completed. For those who didn't finish the mystery quilt or who would like to start it, here are the fabric requirements (pdf) and instructions (pdf 1.56M).
Fellowship Blocks
Brought to you by Fran Mort and Jane Waligorski.
Fellowship Blocks is a quilt block raffle held each month for members only. Patterns and instructions are included in the newsletter and linked to off the home page. Make as many a three blocks and enter your name once for each one.
From Fran & Jane, "We are eager to build on the excellent ideas from past months & to bring you some different designs. In the coming months we will experiment with fabric choices, larger (12 inch) block sizes, techniques (foundation piecing, etc.). As an incentive to encourage participation, every entry in May & June will receive a free 12” square of fabric that reflects the next month's theme!"
Fat Chance
Members may enter only one fat quarter (18" x 22") consistent with the color theme for that month and must be present to win! One name will be drawn for each group of 15 fat quarters. The first name drawn will get the extra ones. For ex: up to 29 fat quarters all go to the first name drawn; 30 would be evenly split; and 39 would result in 24 to the first name and 15 to the second. This distribution provides an adequate amount for a variety of items.
Categories for 2010-2011
